copper + cypress

Location: CORLAY (22)
Project: Transformation of a barn
Scope: Full Architectural Service (Mission Complète)
Area: 74 m²
Planning Permission: 2020
Completion: 2025

A project to transform an old agricultural barn into guest accommodation, incorporating the reuse of an existing copper garage door as part of the envelope of a “box-within-a-box” intervention.

The objective was to retain the character and spatial reading of the original barn, while inserting a new, independent volume accommodating two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.

Along with the reclaimed copper door, cypress cladding was used to complete the envelope of this inner “box”, as well as to create external sliding shutters that close the large barn openings, and finally to construct a matching entrance gate, ensuring material continuity throughout the project.
